This page explains, in plain English, what Brazos Site Co. collects, where it goes, and what you can ask me to do with it. The short version: this website collects what you type into the form, plus the basic technical details any website needs to load. I use your information to reply to you and do the work you ask for. I don’t sell it, and I don’t add you to a mailing list.
Brazos Site Co. is run by Michael, a sole proprietor in Waco, Texas. Questions: michael@brazossiteco.com.
What the contact form collects
When you ask for a free mockup, the form sends me:
- your name, business name and email (required);
- your current website (optional), so I can make your mockup;
- your phone number (optional). If you give it, I may call or text you about your request, and only about that;
- your message (optional);
- which button, sketch, estimate or website-check result you came from, if any;
- your answers to “I run a…” and “How did you find me?”, if you pick them;
- the date and time you sent it, plus a reference number and a note of whether my email alert went through.
I don’t save your IP address with your message.
The website check and the instant sketch
- Website check. The address you type is sent to this site’s server, which visits that one public page and sends back the results. The address and the results aren’t saved. They only reach me if you then send the form, or the short “Want these fixed?” form under the report (your name, email and the results).
- Instant sketch. The business name you type stays in your browser. It only leaves your browser if you copy the sketch link (the name is part of that link), send the form, or use “Email me this sketch” (your name, email and the sketch link).
Where your message goes
- It’s saved in a private database (Cloudflare D1) in my own Cloudflare account. Only I have the login.
- An alert with a copy of your message is emailed to me through Resend, an email delivery service. Resend keeps its copy for a limited time under its own policy (30 days, as of the date above).
- That alert lands in my business email inbox, which runs on Google’s Gmail.
If the form doesn’t work, it offers to open an email to me instead. If you email, call or text me directly, I get what you send, and everything on this page applies to it too.
What’s collected when you just visit
Cloudflare, which hosts the site and protects it from attacks, handles your IP address, browser type and the pages you load. It needs them to deliver the site and block bad traffic. Cloudflare keeps short technical logs for a few days so I can fix errors. Those logs may include your IP address. To spot bots, Cloudflare may also run a small security check in your browser. Cloudflare also shows me overall totals, like the number of visits, but not who you are.
The site’s fonts, scripts and images all load from brazossiteco.com itself. No analytics tools, no ad trackers, no Facebook or Google ad pixels, and no “sign in” buttons.
No analytics, no ad trackers, no cookie banner, because there’s nothing to ask you about. Forms send only what you type.
Cookies
This site doesn’t set its own cookies or store anything in your browser. Cloudflare may set these security cookies:
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Tells real people apart from bots (Cloudflare bot protection). Its contents are encrypted and only Cloudflare can read them. | 30 minutes of inactivity |
cf_clearance | Remembers that you passed a Cloudflare security check, if you were shown one. | Until the check expires (Cloudflare’s default is 30 minutes) |
_cfuvid | Set only if I turn on one particular spam-limit setting. It helps Cloudflare tell people apart when they share one internet connection. | Until you close your browser |
These cookies are only for security. They aren’t used for ads or to follow you around the web. You can block cookies in your browser, but Cloudflare’s security check may then ask you to verify again, or fail.
Business information from public sources
I’m a local web designer, so I also keep a short list of Waco-area businesses I might reach out to. I build it from public sources, like business websites, Google listings, Facebook pages and trade-group directories. It holds business details only: the business name, its public phone, email and address, its website and social links, and my notes, such as “website link is broken.” Sometimes a business’s public email or phone is also the owner’s own, like a Gmail address listed on its Facebook page. I treat it the same way, and use it only for that business. I use it to decide who might want a free mockup, to prepare that mockup, and to make sure I never contact a business twice after it says no. I don’t buy contact lists. I call only business phone lines, and I don’t send marketing texts to anyone who hasn’t asked me to text them.
If your business is on my list and you’d like to be removed, email me and I’ll take it off, except for a do-not-contact note (see “How long I keep it”).
How I use your information
- To reply to you and make your free mockup. I’ll look at your public website, Google listing and social pages.
- To quote, schedule and keep track of our conversation.
- To keep a record of who I’ve talked with, so I don’t contact you twice or after you’ve said no.
- To keep the form free of spam.
- If you hire me: to run your project, send invoices and keep the business and tax records the law requires.
Calls and texts. If you give me your phone number, I may call or text you about your request. Those are one-to-one messages from me: no marketing texts and no lists. Tell me to stop anytime, by replying STOP or just saying so.
Emails. I’ll reply, and I may follow up once or twice about your request. Every follow-up includes an easy way to tell me to stop, and I honor that right away. I don’t add anyone to a mailing list.
Who else sees it
I don’t sell or rent your information, and I don’t share it for anyone else’s marketing. I share it only with the services that run my business, and only for what they do for me:
| Service | What it does for me |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts the site, stores form messages, blocks attacks |
| Resend | Sends me the email alert for each form message |
| My business email and inbox | |
| Anthropic (Claude) | An AI assistant I use to help sort inquiries and draft mockups and replies. I check everything it writes. |
| Square | Contracts, invoices and payments, for clients only. I never see or store your full card number. |
Other times I might share it:
- Someone helping on your project gets only what they need, and only after I’ve told you.
- If someone referred you to me, I may tell them whether you became a client, so I can thank them. Nothing more.
- If the law requires it.
If I ever close Brazos Site Co. or hand it off, I won’t sell your information. A client’s records move only with that client’s OK.
How long I keep it
- Messages that don’t turn into a project: deleted within 2 years, from the database, my inbox and any notes or AI chats I copied them into. Sooner if you ask.
- Client records (agreements, invoices and tax records): at least 4 years, because Texas sales tax law requires it.
- Resend’s copy: a limited time under Resend’s policy. Cloudflare’s technical logs: a few days.
- If you ask me not to contact you, I keep your name and email or number (or your business name and phone) on a short do-not-contact list, only so I never contact you again.
Your choices
Email michael@brazossiteco.com to:
- see what I have about you or your business;
- fix something that’s wrong;
- delete it;
- stop all calls, texts and emails from me.
I’ll reply within 30 days, and usually much sooner. I may need to keep records the law requires, like tax records for clients. I’ll tell you if that applies.
Keeping it safe
The site uses HTTPS, and the database is private. No system is perfect, though. If a breach ever affects your information, I’ll tell you as the law requires.
Kids
This site is for business owners. It’s not meant for children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information. If a child sent me something, email me and I’ll delete it.
Where this applies
This site is meant for people and businesses in Texas and the rest of the United States. Some of the services above, like Cloudflare, run worldwide networks, so your request may pass through servers outside the US.
Changes
Today there are no analytics tools on this site. If I add one, I’ll update this page before turning it on. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
